A video referral for a foot is not normally noteworthy, but what is interesting about this is the communication between the pitch umpires and the video umpire. It’s incredibly refreshing for the audience to receive a thorough explanation of the logic behind the video umpire’s recommendation.

In those times where this level of detail does, in fact, help to clarify more difficult calls, this transparency grants legitimacy our video referral process. IRL (aka domestic games), explaining a decision where you had a consultation or cooperation from your supporting umpire to a captain or other leader on one or both teams will have the same effect.
