To determine whether a 3D skill is dangerous, switch your focus to the defender and watch whether the ball is being taken into them. Get some guidance in this video and more on #FeatureFriday, where we highlight one of the hundreds of clips in the fhu3t Clip Library. Find them all: 🟢🟡🔴🏑
An attacker picks up the ball on a 3D dribble and goes straight at the upright defender, without making any attempt to go around with her skills. The umpire correctly calls this as dangerous.
Switch your focus to the defender, watch whether they move into the ball carrier’s path and the timing (are they there in time or arrive late?), and then whether they swing their stick at the ball. All of these cues will help you make an accurate decision when 3D skills are being used, and—incidentally—are exactly the same cues you’ll look for when the ball is on the ground.
