This is a rookie set of eyes but here’s what I think I saw:
0:10 – That stick swing by the way, but hard to see on the video because the red player blocks the view . Not every sound of sticks slapping means a foul. Still seemed pretty agressive and the ball didn’t go far considering the swing. Both umpires seem to have a good line of sight at that moment.
0:13 – She planted her stick and that helped dislodge the ball but did she come in too hard? I looked at the ball to see what she did with her stick and that looked fine. I took my eyes off the ball and focussed on the defender. It seems her momentum carried her through the player. What really got me is that both umpires signaled opposite to each other. Lack of communication? Was this happening throughout the game? Could this have lead to a building tension as the game went on?
0:54 – Breakdown foul on red? She lifted her elbow up to impede the green player’s progress. Green did lose control of the ball just before though.
I think what you can pull out of this is that a couple of marginal tackles (the first big swing, second tackle) leads to a final incident of greater consequence. Had a free push been pulled out of one of those, a quick whistle, perhaps the final foul had been prevented. For me, the final tackle is a good clean attempt by green, and the red attacker plows through her after dropping the ball behind her body, and should have gone the other way.
